Best London Museums The city of London plays host not only to some of the greatest collection and some of the best museums in the world. London has museums which cater to the greatest innovations and inventions of man like the popular Science Museum in South Kensington and the Victoria and Albert Museum which houses a great collection of paintings, sculptures, fashion, books and antique furniture.
The city also has those that border on the macabre and bizarre like the famous attraction of
the London Dungeons which was originally intended to be a museum of 'horrible history' but was later changed to an interactive exhibit complete with rides and special effects to make it appealing to people of the younger generation.
It's hard to argue that London has some of the best museums in the world, whether you're interested in the natural world, science, history or art.

The Science Museum is an amazing place to go as a kid, or as an adult. Exhibitions include the Energy Hall, Exploring Space and their collection of exhibits showing development of the industrial world. It's open 10am - 6pm every day except 24, 25 and 26 December. Entry is free, although they do ask for donations if possible. One of the best things to do in Kensington on a rainy day!

Known as the V&A, the Victoria and Albert has an amazing collection of paintings, sculpture, fashion, photography, books and furniture. It houses the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 4.5 million objects. Admission to the museum is free but some exhibitions carry a separate charge.

The Natural History Museum is most well known for it's incredible dinosaur exhibits, as well as the stunning building that it sits in. Perhaps the best museum in London, the Natural History Museum is open every day, 10am to 5:50pm, and entry is free. At Christmas the museum often brings in an ice rink for ice skating. A really great place to take the kids.

The Museum of London, as the name suggests, tells the story of London and its people. It cares for more than two million objects in its collections and attracts nearly half a million visitors per year. In particular it holds the largest archaeological archive in Europe. The Museum has entered a new era with the launch of our £20million Galleries of Modern London in May 2010.
